General information

LUMAGICA St Albans takes place on selected dates from 4th November 2022 at Willows Activity Farm, St Albans, Hertfordshire.  Located just 200 metres from junction 22 of the M25 the site is easy to find with FREE parking

Scheduled entry times range from 4.30pm – 800pm. The trail closes at 9.30pm.

Hygiene policy (COVID 19)

The health of visitors and employees is a top priority for the organisers of LUMAGICA.

As an outdoor exhibition taking place in very spacious locations with staggered admission times, we aim to actively avoid potential waiting times and crowds.

Any COVID-19 (or other) governmental guidance or public health regulations in force at the time of the trail will, of course, be met and communicated here on our website and in the social media.

Where can I get tickets?

Tickets can now be purchased on the LUMAGICA St Albans ticket webstore by clicking here

 

You will receive an email with your ticket which has a unique booking reference and bar code.  You can print out your ticket or show it on your electronic device at the admissions area to gain entry.

How much are the tickets?

Prices range from £18.00 - £28.00, plus booking fee Tickets for children under 2 are free but a ticket for them must still be included in your ticket purchase.

 

If you are an official carer, please book a free carers ticket and bring proof of status on the night.  This can either be:

·       Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance letter dated within the last 12 months

·       Personal Independence Payment (PIP) letter dated within the last 12 months

·       Current and valid Blue Badge

·       A letter from a GP or consultant, dated within the last 12 months, confirming the need for a carer/personal assistant.

The carer must be over 16 years of age and capable of assisting the guest who holds the disability.

Are there discounted tickets?

Discounts are available for family groups that include children (aged 2 – 16)

Do I still need a ticket if I already have a ticket to visit Willows during the day?

Yes, LUMAGICA St Albans is an independent and separate event with its own admissions that requires a ticket to enter.

Can I buy tickets at the venue on the day?

We highly recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance.

For spontaneous visitors, remaining tickets will be available at the ticketing office located right by the entrance, open daily from 4.30 pm during the event We cannot guarantee availability on the day of the event.

Is my ticket flexible in terms of date and time?

No. Tickets are purchased for a fixed date and time for LUMAGICA St Albans. When buying your ticket(s), you choose which day and scheduled entrance time you want.

We only offer a limited number of tickets per day and per scheduled session, to ensure you have a safe and great experience of the trail. Once a day and time is fully booked, you will need to select an alternative.

What if I am late for my scheduled time?

Please arrive in good time for your scheduled entry time – around 15 minutes before is ideal. If you are very early, you will have a longer wait for your scheduled time, however there is a Food and Drink Arena near the entrance to keep you entertained while you wait. If you are late, we will try to accommodate you, but it be necessary to wait until we have appropriate space on the trail and we cannot guarantee access in this instance.

I can no longer make it, or I booked the wrong day

If, for any reason, you are unable to attend an event on the date you have booked, at least 7 days’ notice must be given for us to transfer you to an alternative date. Transfers are subject to availability. Refunds are not available for this event unless we cancel it.

DIRECTIONS BY ROAD From M25 West towards Heathrow

Exit the M25 at Junction 22. At the end of the slip road take the third exit off the roundabout. This will take you over the M25. At the next roundabout take the fourth exit onto Coursers Road. Willows Farm Shop is located 300m along here on the left hand side. Willows Activity Farm is 200m along on the left hand side.

from M25 East towards M11 Stansted

Exit the M25 at Junction 22. At the end of the slip road take the third exit off the roundabout onto Coursers Road. Willows Activity Farm is located 300m along here on the left hand side.

From M1

Exit the M25 at Junction 22. At the end of the slip road take the third exit off the roundabout. This will take you over the M25. At the next roundabout take the fourth exit onto Coursers Road. Willows Farm Shop is located 300m along here on the left hand side. Willows Activity Farm is 200m along on the left hand side.

from A1(M)

Exit the M25 at Junction 22. At the end of the slip road take the third exit off the roundabout onto Coursers Road. Willows Activity Farm is located 300m along here on the left hand side.

by bus

The 357, 602 and 84 bus lines have routes that pass near Willows Activity Farm

Exit the bus at The Bull public House, Barnet Road, London Colney, which is near to the Colney Fox Hotel and opposite Lowbell Lane. Walk up Lowbell Lane until you come to the Farm Office. Walk past the gate and continue until you come to one of the car parks, walk through the car park and turn left where you will see the entrance to Willows Activity Farm directly in front of you.

by RAIL Tube

Exit the tube at High Barnet and take the number 107 bus towards Edgware. Change to the 357 bus and exit the bus at Colney Fields Retail Park, London Colney.

Main Line

Exit the mainline at St Albans and walk into the town centre and take the number 84 bus.

Is there parking at LUMAGICA St Albans?

Yes – there is plenty of parking on hard standing car parks.  Follow the road form the entrance to Willows Activity Farm to Car Park’s 1 or 2.  On busy nights, assistance will be available in the car parks.

Where do I enter for the light trail?

You firstly need to enter Willows Activity Farm through the main admissions area, and you will be required to show your ticket here.  You will then follow a path to the entrance to the LUMAGICA St Albans light trail, where you will again need to show your ticket which will be redeemed at this point.  Prior to the entrance to the light trail, you will find the Food and Drink Arena and toilets.

What if LUMAGICA St Albans is cancelled?

If we have to cancel for any reason, visitors will be offered an alternative date. If you are not able to attend any alternative night offered, then a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis. No refunds will be offered simply if the weather is inclement. Any decision to cancel that evening's trail will be taken by 2pm on the day in question and you will be notified by email.

How long is the trail? Are there places to rest?

The self-guided route is offered as a one-way fixed trail and has a length of about 1.1 kilometres. Depending on how long you linger and how long your breaks are, it takes from around 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Toilets are available close to the Food & Drink Arena Hosts will be available along the trail to assist.

Is LUMAGICA St Albans wheelchair accessible?

Willows Activity Farm is a farm-based location and the paths to the start of the Lumagica St Albans event are unpaved but are accessible by wheelchair.  Assistance will be provided if required.  The circular route of the light trail is barrier-free, fully paved and wheelchair accessible. If you have specific access needs, please contact us for more information.

Are prams and buggies allowed? How about children’s scooters?

Prams and buggies are welcome. The paths of the light trail are barrier-free and fully paved, and suitable for prams and buggies. Children’s scooters are not permitted.

Are there disabled toilets and nappy changing facilities?

Yes – these are located near the Food and Drink Arena.

Weather and what to wear

LUMAGICA St Albans will take place in any weather condition – including in rain. The trail is exposed to the weather so please be aware of this when purchasing your ticket(s). Unfortunately, tickets cannot be refunded due to bad weather unless there is an imminent danger to visitors, and we cancel the event. In any case, we recommend wearing warm and weatherproof clothes and sturdy footwear.

Are dogs allowed?

No, the event is not suitable for dogs except registered disability assistance dogs

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Is smoking allowed?

No, Willows is strictly a non-smoking site.   A designed smoking area is available in Car Park 1.

Can you take pictures of the light objects?

You are very welcome to take pictures of our light displays. We would be delighted if you could capture the special atmosphere of the LUMAGICA St Albans light park and share it with us on Facebook and Instagram using #lumagicauk or #lumagicastalbans(?). Please be considerate of other trail guests. Occasionally we may take promotional pictures of the trail. We will have signage indicating if there is any filming or photography happening on any given evening, and if you do not wish to be included in these photographs, please let a member of the on-site team know.

How safe are the light displays?

LUMAGICA are highly experienced in setting up and running safe illuminated displays at outdoor attractions.  Willow’s Health and Safety team has overseen the plans and measures will be put in place to avoid any unnecessary risk, including maintaining the right balance between darkness and light to keep the event safe but also create atmosphere.

Should I bring torches/headtorches/flashing lights?

Please don’t bring your own light-up items, as these may interfere with people’s enjoyment of the lighting installations. The route is safely and appropriately lit. No naked flames (candles, flares, lanterns) are allowed.

Safety and security
For the safety and security of everyone at LUMAGICA St Albans, if you see anything suspicious or any persons acting suspiciously, please tell the nearest member of staff immediately. Please do not leave any belongings unattended at any time. Always keep your children with you. Ensure they don’t wander into any unlit areas.
